1980's J.C.PENNEY . COUTURE
J.C. Penney 1987 Denim Commercial (CLICK)
5 Amazing things about the above video:
1. Julie. (in her "fast moving denim outfit." .. Go 'head girl!)
2. Bernard's mashed-potato. (that sh*t cray.)
3. The fact that Tracy is able to "twist and shout" amidst 50 layers of clothing.
4. We can all agree that Joe is the best/worst dancer of the group.
5. The snippet you just watched was "just a sampling." I'm itching to see what else they have!

FASHION INSPIRED SHORT DOCUMENTARIES.
Check out these 2 unrelated very short Youtube clips that have more in common than you actually think.
The first clip is a 'day in the life' so to speak of the public relations power house for one of the largest fashion brands ever DKNY by Miss Donna Karan. Public Relations is an integral and vital component for any successful fashion brand. Aliza Licht shows us how it's done!
The second clip gives us a peek in the the mind of the genius talent that is Tom Ford. His full documentary will air on "Visionaries" on the OWN network.

ADELE INSPIRED FASHION.
Me, being a self professed "Adele Addict," I couldn't not make a post about her vintage/Elizabethan/original style. I'm actually her number one fan and this girl can do no wrong in my head. You all better know who she is!!!

MY FIRST LADY'S INAUGURATION GOWN.
The dress that made, the ever so talented, Jason Wu a household name in fashion. Michelle Obama's inauguration gown. During a recent trip to our D.C. I was privileged enough to see The Gown up close.
It was an amazing experience. A gorgeous dress!

CUSTOM CURLS!
Last week, while in a full service salon one of the black hair-dressers came up to me to ask me about my natural hair. 3 days prior to our conversation she had made the "big CHOP," she cut all of her relaxed hair off, and as a result had a very modern and feminine "buzz cut" that fit her personality and friendly face, perfectly! It looked so natural on her. She mentioned she was inspired by a beautiful black woman, she had seen on the train that was bald, the day before she decided to cut her own hair. We went on to discuss the American and African American perception of "beauty."
Excited to meet another young woman with natural hair (me) and buzzing with curiosity and excitement, she asked me "What products do you use on your [natural] hair? what can I use on mine?"
Ladies! here is MY answer: When we "perm" or "relax" our hair we use the same chemical to produce the same result (straight hair). When your hair is in its natural state, meaning the way your unique and individual curl pattern forms from your own scalp, it will not be the same as anyone else's hair! Whatever products work for me may not work for you.
Embrace what comes natural to you, if you so choose too.

MEMORY LANE ... "RICH GIRLS" COUTURE.
I soo wish this show had come back for another season! A real MTV Gem. But in lieu of a 2nd season MTV gifted us “Laguna Beach’ and subsequently ‘The Hills’ which paved the way for ‘The City’ and by now I’m sure you’ve caught my drift? All great reality shows (or at least my favorites) come from MTV! Okay, maybe that’s not the point I’m trying to make .. BUT! I miss this show. I wonder if it’s on DVD??
Here’s just a tease…

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: THE HISTORY..
It's that time of year again! It comes around twice annually, but where did it start? And how did it become such a big deal?
This brief, yet informative article from www.stylelist.com helps answer your questions!
Tuesday
KATE MIDDLETON . FASHION REPEATS . ECONOMICAL . COUTURE
She may be the Duchess of Cambridge. But one thing she aint, is afraid to wear the same thing twice!
Well, a tip of the hat to you Ms. Duchess! In such rough financial times where not just the fashion industry is struggling she is sending a well-received and humble message through her classic wardrobe.
SIMPLE/COMPLEX . COUTURE
Mary-Kate, or is she Ashley Olsen? I'm embarrassed to admit that I really don't know the difference. But, which ever fabulous twin she is, she's pulling off the casual-over sized-masculine femininity look effortlessly.
But just to make sure her outfit isn't toooo casual, she's wearing a $39,000 bag over her shoulder! yup! and exclusive one from the Olsen twins haute couture line, The Row...

Too much amazingness going on in the above statement! :)
CREATIVE ENERGY ABUSED .. RIP AMY!
"Creative energy abused. All my lyrics go unused..." an ironic line from one of the songs off of one of my top 5 favorite albums Frank.
Rest in Peace, Amy!
